A Motherhood Journey: Becky Grymonprez

When I look back at my motherhood journey, I remember those early stages with my boys. Those late night feedings, those exciting moments, those scary times when I was on the phone with an advice nurse and most importantly that community of mama friends who were going through the exact same thing.

My motherhood journey started ten years ago when my first son was born. I was scared, nervous, excited and had every emotion you could think of. Seven months into my postpartum journey I found out I was pregnant again with my second son. Those first years of motherhood flew by and I had a great group of mom friends and we always were there for each other.

Fast forward to the year 2019, both of my boys were seven and eight years old, and I had found out I was pregnant. This time with a little girl and we were so excited. One thing that I instantly thought of was my group of mom friends, they all were done having babies and I was here pregnant and without a community for this new season of life.

In March of 2020, I joined the Oath Care app. It was a difficult time in my motherhood journey, I was no longer able to nurse Lily, and I was yearning for that community of moms. I was the only one in the group (other than the facilitator) who had more than one child, however, being out of that baby stage for years, it literally felt like I was starting over.

Being an extrovert I was so excited to start up the conversation in our circle and get to know the other moms. Instantly we clicked and I knew this was my forever group of mama friends. We went through the beginning of the pandemic together, teething, sleep training, falls and scares...so much and all while having access to amazing providers who have always helped us with solutions or insight.

One of my first experiences with reaching out to the providers in our circle, was during the early stages of Lily pulling up onto things. She started to cruise around and I noticed her wanting to practice walking on her toes. I was worried and I felt this feeling of sudden panic, thinking the worst. My boys did not do this at all so of course this was so new for me. I instantly thought of Oath care and took no time to reach out to them instead of waiting days for an email back from our pediatrician. Nurse Judy hopped on quickly and was able to give me some insight as to why she was doing this. I felt a sense of relief and gratitude for her quick response. One of the things she mentioned is that at her age it is a common thing to happen. She immediately offered some suggestions to help. Lower body massages, moving her feet around for her and pointing/flexing exercises, all of which would help loosen and tight ligaments. I made sure to do what Nurse Judy suggested and within a few weeks I noticed a huge change.

As a new mom again and of three kiddos, simplicity is a must. I love that virtual appointments can be scheduled for well checks or any support you may need. The resources they offer are amazing and available at your fingertips. I definitely wish I had this when my boys were little, especially having them so close in age!

The Oath app has not only given me lifelong friends, it has provided me with a safe space, professional feedback and advice, and the simplicity of everything in one app. In what I thought would just be an app and just a group of moms going through the same journey, I gained so much more.

Thank you Oath for being there for me in my hardest mama moments, for cheering me on with every milestone Lily hits and for providing the best professional care I have experienced in my 10yrs of being a mama.
